July 18, 2025

Among the 54 GS fellowship winners over the course of the 2024-25 academic year, 2 Dual Degree Program affiliates have received 3 awards through various fellowship programs.

Recent graduate Gabriel Yue Cao ‘25GS received the Hertog Foundation Political Studies Fellowship in Washington DC. Fellows participate in a full-time program in Washington DC over the summer, exploring the academic theory and practice of politics with guidance from top faculty and active political leaders.

Cao also received the John Jay Fellowship from the John Jay Institute in Langhorne, PA. Fellows participate in a two-semester program, with the first semester spent  in Philadelphia, engaging in theological and secular studies and community building. In the second semester, fellows complete externships across the globe tailored to their vocational interests in governmental, nongovernmental, cultural, and academic institutions.

Leo Ross Mates-Muchin ‘26GS was named a Kraft Global Fellow. As part of this innovative program from the Columbia Office of the University Chaplain, fellows travel to one of Columbia’s Global Centers to engage in interfaith research guided by Columbia faculty and local political, religious, cultural, and community leaders.

We offer our sincerest congratulations to this year’s fellowship winners whose creativity, diligence, and well-deserved success embodies the best of the Dual Degree Program.
